“IT’S VALID”
In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month. The BecomeOne Project has came up with a way to bring more awareness to our communities “IT’S VALID” Photograph & Video Exhibition moved throughout all four high schools during the month of May. In order to directly bring the conversation to our High School Students.
But before it did, we had a one opening night to the community.
May 3, 2023 at the CSM Prince Frederick Campus.
It was an evening of inspiration and hope.
Over 200 people in attendance to support the cause of mental wellness in our youth and our community.
The students’ photographs by Shelly Gooding Photography touched us all and their videos by Live Local MD simply charmed us. 
We spoke to many people at the event and received messages with how much people were touched and were still on a high from the evening.
The consensus seems to be two favorite moments:
Ms. Gertrude who led us all not only in prayer, but walked us all into a spirit of oneness and the greater spirit that leads us here at BecomeOne.
And the second – hearing the students speak. Hearing that this gallery showed them that they are not alone, how good it was to see and know that others are going through things and are finding their own ways to get out of their heads and calm.
I think our favorite moment at BecomeOne – the parents seeing how proud they were & the many students who came up to us and were in awe at the level we went to to honor them.
And much love to our community and their support in surrounding these students as their BecomeOne village that evening.
We so appreciate you.
Mental wellness is something we all are for. It’s something we all want for ourselves and for our youth. And it really can be shown in such beautiful ways through them. We really can learn so much.
